Yama Vacuum Pot
|
Coffee Storehouse is proud to
offer the Yama Vacuum Brewer, also known as Yama Siphon or Syphon Brewer.
If you've never had vacuum brewed coffee before, you'll be in for a treat, both
visually and in taste with our Yama Vacuum Pot.
Vacuum brewed coffee was initially invented in the 1840s in
France, and became very popular in the United States around the middle part of
the 20th century. Companies like Silex, Sunbeam, Westinghouse, General Electric,
Cory and others had entire lines of vacuum brewers for sale during this period.
This brewing method undeniably produced the best tasting filter coffee, but it
lost favor in the convenience-obsessed America of the 1950 and beyond. While
other parts of the world continued to use vacuum brewers (most notably Europe
and Japan), in the U.S., percolation, auto drip and instant coffees gradually
replaced vacuum brewing use, bringing super convenient (yet also super bad
tasting) coffee to the American breakfast table.
Today, quality coffee is making a major comeback in North America, and as a
result, people are starting to use vacuum brewers again. The Vacuum Pot technique
of brewing coffee at the perfect brewing temperature ensures a perfect
cup! Everyone who sees the Vacuum Pot in action is amazed at the process. You
will be amazed as well.

|
A wire grid is included on models
SY8-BK and SY-5BK for use on
electric stoves, the grid is not required for gas stoves. Always
use medium or medium high heat. Dishwasher and microwave safe!!
This is a great price for this style of coffee brewing!!. Plus we
can obtain replacement parts.
Directions for use: Use a slightly
finer grind of coffee. Drop the washable, reusable cloth covered
filter into the infusion chamber with the chain hanging down into
the glass siphon tube. Pull the chain down until you can hook it
to the bottom of the siphon tube. Fill the bottom carafe to the 8
or 5 mark (depending on model purchased) with hot water and place
5 measuring spoons of coffee in top chamber for the 5-cup model,
and 8 measuring spoons for the 8-cup model.
These models work on gas and
electric range tops, and come with a wire diffuser for use on
electric coil burners. Use medium-high heat. It takes about 4
minutes to heat the water, all the water is siphoned to the top
chamber and then allow 2 minutes to brew. Once you remove from the
heat source, the coffee comes back down to the bottom carafe.
Remove the top, placing it in its convertible lid/stand, and bring
the pot to the table for serving. |
|

As the brewing starts, the water is boiled in the
bottom and the top holds the grinds.
|

Once the water boils, it sends all the liquid to the
top where the brewing takes place.
|

After about 3 minutes, remove the vacuum pot and the
"kickdown" begins.
|

When the "kickdown" completes, you are
left with a full pot of great tasting coffee.
|

Once done, separate the top vessel from the bottom,
then enjoy a fresh pot of coffee.

The "Cona"
method of coffee making has been world famous for more than a half
century. These unique and beautiful brewing devices perform
wonderful results when properly done. Manufactured in
England and available in different finishes, these ultimate coffee
brewers denote quality with remarkable results. Its main
feature is that the coffee is prepared entirely in glass where
coffee has no contact with metal parts, or paper filters that
would otherwise taint the full coffee flavor- giving you only a
clean smooth taste.
Because Cona uses the vacuum
method of brewing , the coffee is automatically infused at the
correct temperature, thus insuring the perfect extractions of oils
and caffeine which give coffee its full taste. This method
insures no bitter taste from over-extraction.
When occasions demand an added special touch for
the coffee lover- Cona coffee makers will be the
clear choice.
Size D (1Quart - 1.13 liter)
Each Cona unit comes complete with
instructions and ready for brewing. Just add denatured
alcohol* for the spirit lamp, ground coffee, and hot water.
* Denatured alcohol is not included with the
unit, but can be purchased separately at your local hardware
store.
